People obtain a copyright in order to protect people from using their work without giving the creator proper credit. Fair use is when an individual is able to use someone else’s work without violating the copyright. As a teacher, I would be sure to credit anyone’s work that I used in my instructional materials. I would explain what a copyright and fair use is to my students before I assign any works. I’d likely give my students some practice assignments using copyright and fair use, so they have a solid understanding of what’s expected of them.

A potential solution to academic dishonesty is to write a class honor code and having my students read and sign it before every project. I would deal with cyberbullying by teaching a lesson about cyberbullying, and laying out very clear consequences for anyone in my class who cyberbullied someone else. A solution to decreased productivity would be to utilize a screen locking app on my students’ devices, so they have less on their computers to distract them from their work. A solution to lack of funding would be to scale back the assignments I created so that every student is able to complete and learn from the assignment wit the technology they do have. This may involve turning individual online projects into a group project, so more students can learn from fewer devices. A solution to student privacy issues would be to teach a lesson early in the year about internet privacy, keeping a poster up in the classroom so students remember what information they shouldn’t put out online.

By working on the Newsletter Design project, I developed several new skills in Microsoft Word. I learned how to format my text into columns, as I had always used text boxes before to give the appearance of columns. I also learned how to save a word document as a pdf, which I didn’t know how to do before. These skills are useful for my future career because I want to be an elementary school teacher, and the skills I learned will help me make class newsletters in my own classroom. I could likely improve my newsletter by formatting the different articles a little better. They might be easier to read if the text was all the same color, with borders around the text to mark the different sections.
