Introduction

Hello! My name is Carolina, and I’m from Jacksonville, Florida. I’m a freshman this year, and my major is elementary education. I’ve got two poodle mixes named Winnie and Harley, who I’m really starting to miss after seeing them every day during quarantine. I love to bake, and I spent most of quarantine learning new dessert recipes. In my free time, I also like to read, watch Netflix, and do anything artistic.

I don’t have a ton of experience with technology in school. Throughout high school, a lot of my school work was done on iPads, so I have more experience with those than with computers. I’m also fairly familiar with programs like PowerPoint, Quizlet, and zoom. I don’t have much experience with Microsoft programs, so I’m excited to learn how to use them in this class!

Throughout high school/college applications, the people in my PLN consisted of my guidance counselor and two of my junior year teachers. My guidance counselor gave me most of the information I needed about college applications, and my teachers helped my by writing letters of recommendation. The place in my PLN was primarily my high school, as that was where I completed the majority of college applications. I also toured several colleges before applying, so those places helped me to figure out where I wanted to go to college. Through the college application PLN, I gained tools like learning to create a resume. I also learned how to use tools like the Coalition Application. I’m looking forward to creating a new PLN at college!

  1. Hi Carolina, some of my friends also cooked and baked to let their stress out during the quarantine. Unfortunately, my strategy was to consume their foods and gained lots of weights during the summer. ;-( So, you talked about your offline PLN. Did you go to any websites or social media to get some helps, advice, or resources to apply colleges? PLN can be both formal and informal. Let's learn more about technologies we can use to build teacher PLN in class.
