Overall, I've had a fairly positive experience as a distance learner. I like how I can do all of my classes from my room, and how all of the resources for my classes can be found on Canvas. I don't like how limited group collaboration is in distance learning, as I've always found it easier to work on group projects when the group is able to meet in person. As a teacher, I think I could improve my students’ experience as distance learners by finding ways to vary the classroom routine, as it can get boring for students to do the same format for every assignment.
Open educational resources are copyrighted materials that are open to the public to be used for educational purposes. Educators are allowed to display, alter, or recreate these resources. For example, I found an open educational resource for language arts: https://www.oercommons.org/courseware/lesson/70091/overview. This resource is an article about why flamingos are pink, and it includes discussion questions for various grade levels to help teach reading comprehension skills.
By working on the two powerpoints, I learned how to hyperlink shapes, record a powerpoint, and develop a nonlinear powerpoint. I didn't like the first powerpoint as much, because I didn't like having to record the presentation of the powerpoint. I could improve this powerpoint by choosing a more indepth topic, as I think the subject I chose was too short for a four minute powerpoint. I really liked working on the second powerpoint, and I think I could have improved my powerpoint by making my questions multiple choice.
