  My early experiences using twitter have been largely uneventful. So far, I’ve interacted primarily with my classmates and with several education-based accounts. It’s been beneficial to see my classmates’ tweets, so I can see other versions of class projects like the PLN diagram and the newsletter. I’ve had some difficulty figuring out how to use the live chats on twitter, but I believe once I figure it out, it will be a useful tool in my future career, as I will be able to connect with educators across the country.      The digital divide is the disparity in technology access. This impacts student success because if one student does not have the same level of access to technology that the other does, then that child will not perform as well, regardless of intellect or skill level.   For second graders, standard LAFS.2.SL.1.2 require students to “Recount or describe key ideas or details from a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media”. I took this to mean that students need to be able to retell the main point of a story presented in various modes. Based on my current skills, I do not feel prepared to implement this standard. I don’t think I have a very accurate gauge of a second-grader’s current skill level in ELA. To implement this standard, I believe I would need to learn a bit more about child development.      I looked through resources that a teacher of second-grade science would use. I found a resource that details a lesson plan to teach students about ecosystems in the Everglades. The resource included a plan for a play the students could act out, along with pdfs of relevant material and visuals for the play and the lesson.        People obtain a copyright in order to protect people from using their work without giving the creator proper credit. Fair use is when an individual is able to use someone else’s work without violating the copyright. As a teacher, I would be sure to credit anyone’s work that I used in my instructional materials. I would explain what a copyright and fair use is to my students before I assign any works. I’d likely give my students some practice assignments using copyright and fair use, so they have a solid understanding of what’s expected of them.      A potential solution to academic dishonesty is to write a class honor code and having my students read and sign it before every project. I would deal with cyberbullying by teaching a lesson about cyberbullying, and laying out very clear consequences for anyone in my class who cyberbullied someone else.   I used Microsoft word with relative frequency in middle school, as I used it to type all of my writing assignments. However, I wasn’t very tech-savvy with it. When I started high school, my classes had students write papers on Pages and Google docs, never suggesting Word. In the past four years, I’ve barely used Microsoft Word at all, so I’m a little slower at using it. Since I’ve started at FSU, I’ve begun to use Microsoft Word in my classes, and I think I’ll get the hang of it with a bit more use. The ISTE standard that I find most meaningful is that of learner. The point of the standard is that educators are constantly learning, in various ways and from various sources. It is important for K-12 teachers to be learners because technology is constantly changing, and a teacher needs to stay abreast of those changes if they want to be able to relate to their students. Introduction

Hello! My name is Carolina, and I’m from Jacksonville, Florida. I’m a freshman this year, and my major is elementary education. I’ve got two poodle mixes named Winnie and Harley, who I’m really starting to miss after seeing them every day during quarantine. I love to bake, and I spent most of quarantine learning new dessert recipes. In my free time, I also like to read, watch Netflix, and do anything artistic.  I don’t have a ton of experience with technology in school. Throughout high school, a lot of my school work was done on iPads, so I have more experience with those than with computers. I’m also fairly familiar with programs like PowerPoint, Quizlet, and zoom. I don’t have much experience with Microsoft programs, so I’m excited to learn how to use them in this class!
